Health
There is much evidence to support the fact that many illnesses and diseases can be prevented. Particularly those which are prevalent in Western society. I believe that environmental pollution and nutritional depletion are the major causes. Acidity in the body and the stress of unnatural urban lifestyles create toxicity on every level. People splash out on luxury consumer goods whilst scrimping on food. Supermarkets appear to give the 'consumer' good value but actually encourage the purchase of processed foods and make it hard for those who produce fresh food to make a living. A superficial gleam of freshness and perfection often hide blandness in fruit 'n veg. So called 'healthy' ready meals often contain excessive sodium content. Thankfully, many are rediscovering the delights of gardening and the connection between food and health. The slow food movement and the trend towards downshifting are signs of the backlash against corporate business and the modern, shrink wrapped lifestyle. The rise of allotments, farmer's markets, home gardening and heritage seed sharing services are encouraging. One of the most important things we can do is to keep ourselves healthy. Eat well. Exercise both the body and the mind on a regular basis.
Healing
Health arises from the relationship between the body and the mind. When imbalance occurs, disease and illness arise. In the end we are all responsible for healing ourselves. Others can only facilitate the process.
